Mentoring is so rewarding!
I am qualified to mentor under the National Open College Network and have a Level 2 Certificate in Mentoring Skills.
I hold a current CRB certificate under the Suffolk Education Business Partnership and a YMCA Foundation Level 3 Diploma in Youth & Informal Education.
I have been mentoring at Stoke High School, Ipswich for the past 2 years and many of my mentees have gone on to become peer mentors themselves.
Wendy Toogood, Mentoring Co-ordinator at Stoke High comments :
“Jill has been working as a mentor at Stoke High School for 2 years. In that time she has worked with a real cross-section of students with varying issues and problems and has achieved great success.
All our students have warmed to Jill, finding her very approachable, empathetic and supportive. Most importantly to our students, Jill is 100% reliable, is genuinely interested in them and is non-judgmental. Several of Jill’s mentees have gone on to become peer mentors to younger students in the school, which is a testament to her mentoring skills and her inspiration as a role model. Jill is always prepared to go that extra distance for her mentees, by researching their issues and sourcing information to support them the best she can. She has also taken part, voluntarily, in Curriculum Day at Stoke where she ran workshops to brief and prepare Year 11 students for “mock interview” day as well as taking part as an interviewer.
Jill is an asset to our school – somebody who makes things happen and makes a difference.”
